2nd Annual *Avila Beach Bird Sanctuary Day - Feb. 20, 2016

The 2nd Annual *AVILA BEACH BIRD SANCTUARY DAY 2016 was a huge success!
Opening words were given by special guest, Mona Olivas-Tucker,  Chairman of the Northern Chumash Tribe.  There were many attendees this year who enjoyed exibits from Willow Tree Wildlife and Pacific Wildlife Care, including a Brown Pelican and a Merlin Falcon.
The event featured Bay Area film producer Judy Irving, producer of "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" and "Pelican Dreams".
Attendees saw an informative demonstration of the hazards of plastics to the environment and wildlife. What a great day! Special thanks to the Avila Beach Tourism Alliance and the Avila Beach Civic Association for their support.

1st Annual *Avila Beach Bird Sanctuary Day - Feb. 21, 2015

The *Avila Beach Bird Sanctuary Day 2015, was a crowd pleaser!

Attendees were treated to a live bird educational presentation by Pacific Wildlife Care and Willow Tree Wildlife.  The presentation included a Brown Pelican, a Red-tailed Hawk, and a petite Screech Owl.  The event also offered an educational display of the hazards of plastics to the environment and wildlife.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - September 20, 2014

The community of Avila Beach celebrated an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on September 20, 2014, with Supervisor Adam Hill in attendance and his assistant, Hannah Miller.

The event included storyboards of migratory birds and native birds in the Avila Beach area. There was also a presentation by Pacific Wildlife Care and Willow Tree Wildlife education ambassadors, which included a Brown Pelican and Peregrine Falcon.

The special guest speaker was Mona Olivas-Tucker, Charirmain of the Northern Chumash Tribe.

A special theme song titled, "Thunderbird", written by Irene Kelley, performed by Billy Foppiano and Sharon Doran, rounded out the Bird Sanctuary inauguration ceremony.
