Very special thanks to San Luis Obispo County Supervisor, Adam Hill, for his support of the Avila Beach Bird Sanctuary Project. His donation and support, along with others, enables the official ABBS to plan educational events and host the annual Avila Beach Bird Sanctuary Day, held on the 3rd every February. Shirley Goetz, Founder of the Avila Beach Bird Sanctuary organizes events featuring education ambassadors from Pacific Wildlife Care and Willow Tree Wildlife for fun and informative presentations along with special guest speakers and demonstrations about the hazards of plastics to the environment. It is a pleasure to work with our county representatives, whom also have an interest in preserving our environment in sustaining many diverse bird and animal populations in the present and for the future. Thank you Supervisor Adam Hill, for supporting the preservation of our environment, natural resources and our wildlife.
Avila Beach is located along the Pacific Flyway, which is the path numerous migratory birds use during their journey to and from South America to North America. Avila's fresh water stream micro estuary and salt water coastline provide a perfect place to eat and rest before continuing on their journey.
